Bangalore Pune Expressway is the upcoming coveted highway project of NHAI under the Bharatmala Pariyojna. The Expressway is 745 KM long and will cost 40,000 crores. It is expected that the project will be completed by 2028. The Greenfield expressway will pass through the 12 districts of both cities. The major idea of announcing this was to reduce the travel time between Pune and Bangalore to 7 to 8 hours as compared to the existing 11 to 12 hours.

Bangalore Pune Expressway Route Map
The Pune Bangalore Expressway is an upcoming green field highway planned two connect two major cities of Maharashtra and Karnataka. The expressway is 700 KM and comes under the PM’s Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-II. The expressway will pass through a total of 12 districts of both Karnataka and Maharashtra. Additionally, the Bangalore Pune Expressway will interchange with other roads at about 22 places. The government has also added two emergency airstrips of a 5 KM length near Bangalore and Pune.

Bangalore Pune Expressway Total Time
Bangalore Pune Expressway is spread across a total area of 700 km between Bangalore and Pune. The major idea of introducing this expressway is to reduce the overall time by 95 KM. Presently, the total time taken to cover this distance is 15 hours but with this expressway, the total distance will be halved. The people will take only 7 hours to complete the distance between both cities.

The government is seeking to develop infrastructure along the Bangalore Pune Expressway. The government is expecting to add road over bridges, interchanges, flyovers and National and State Highways Crossing Points.
